Succesfull WC slalom windsurfing
The WC windsurfing of 2009 was a succesfull edition. The event took place during the Zwitserleven Zeilweek on the Island of Texel. During the registration at Monday a bright sun warmed up the beach. With the good forecast we had a promising event to come. It was a shot in the hole on day one. Bernd Flessner (G16), top favorite was delighted: “ It is years ago, when we had such condition during a slalom competition. Side shore winds and marks in the break. Unbelievable.”

Hard condition today
With an onshore northwest wind and a hard break it was a hard day for the windsurfers. Due to the upcoming wind de waves got bigger and made it more difficult for the sailors. Still de contest directors managed to complete two complete eliminations. They started a third one, but they couldn't complete it due to the dying winds.

Excellent conditions during day 1

Plenty of actions during day 1 of the WC Slalom windsurfing during the Zwitserleven Sailingweek. The conditions where optimal for the Slalom discipline in windsurfing. The wind was strong and sideshore along the beach. Hard enough for the small sails and high speeds and action around the bouys. We got a short chat with Bernd Flessner (GER) of Norderney, Germany. “ It has been a while since we had such excellent conditions. I really had an exciting day. The organization is supurb, it's relaxt and if you have these conditions on day 1 it's like a dream.”
