Top 3 honoured.
At 17.00 the top three of the Zwitserleven zeilweek have been honoured during a ceremony on the big stage. You could see the surfers are not used to such big crowds. But they got their prices and reward.

Succesfull WC slalom windsurfing
The WC windsurfing of 2009 was a succesfull edition. The event took place during the Zwitserleven Zeilweek on the Island of Texel. During the registration at Monday a bright sun warmed up the beach. With the good forecast we had a promising event to come. It was a shot in the hole on day one. Bernd Flessner (G16), top favorite was delighted: “ It is years ago, when we had such condition during a slalom competition. Side shore winds and marks in the break. Unbelievable.”

Adriaan van Rijsselberghe: “ Nine points for the event.”
There are nice waves rolling in and most windsurf contenders have paddled out. Also Adriaan is out, but I need him for a quick chat about the event. He was one of the promotors of the event. He got more and more windsurfers wild about the contest here on Texel.

Number 6 of the event
During the start of the famous Round Texel Catamaran race we had a quick chat with number 6 of the World Championships Slalom. According the wind we wouldn't have extra races today and we can make final results.

Hard condition today
With an onshore northwest wind and a hard break it was a hard day for the windsurfers. Due to the upcoming wind de waves got bigger and made it more difficult for the sailors. Still de contest directors managed to complete two complete eliminations. They started a third one, but they couldn't complete it due to the dying winds.

Josh Ludo: runner up?
Just before the start we had a little chat with Josh Ludo (ESP12). After day 1 he was on the third place. He took second place in the first elimination of today and it looked like he could be the winner of the day.

No races today
It is over for today. It looked like it would happen today. The wind increased and the organizers set a course. All windsurfers where prepared to go out on the water, but the organizers had difficulties to set the right course.

Texel Grand Prix Windsurf Slalom EK

Ook op de derde dag van het Grand Prix EK Slalom stond er veel wind. In de ochtend draaide de wind richting noord en nam toe tot ruim 20 knopen. Geen wolkje in de lucht te bekennen en via meteo consult kwam zelfs een officiële waarschuwing wegens de zonnekracht. Voor vandaag werd voor de mannen een volledige eliminatie gevaren. In de finale startte Ben van der Steen te vroeg en werd gediskwalificeerd. Balend liep hij, terwijl de finale voor de tweede maal startte, het strand op en voegde zich bij de al eerder uitgeschakelde windsurfers. De finale van de vijfde eliminatieronde werd een Frans onderonsje. Julien Quentel staat overall voorlopig op de eerste plek, maar moest nu toch zijn meerdere erkennen in Pierre Mortefon (FRA 14) en Pascal Toscelli (FRA 916). Peter Volwater kwam in deze ronde als beste uit de grote groep Hollanders, hij finishte als vierde in de finale. Voor het algemeen klassement zullen er  geen grote verschuivingen plaatsvinden. Aan het eind van de dag zal begonnen worden met de zesde eliminatieronde. De eliminatierondes zullen tot vrijdag gevaren worden, waarna de zestien beste windsurfers zaterdag zullen strijden om het Europees Kampioenschap.

Bij de vrouwen en de jeugd werd vanochtend gestreden tijdens de derde eliminatieronde. Femke van der Valk (NED19) had pech en belandde in het water en eindigde als derde achter Marie Airault (FRA203) en Marianne Kaplas (FIN 134) in de finale. Op het moment dat de finale voor de jeugd gevaren zou worden, draaide de wind en zakte tijdelijk weg. Deze finale werd in de middag ingehaald en  werd wederom een Frans feestje. William Alikiagalelei (FRA 540) won de finale met achter hem Benjamin Remy (FRA 712) en Aubin Quernec (FRA 334).
