Round Texel
What do the sailors think of it?
At 10:00 am hundreds of sailors gathered around the stage on the beach for the skippers’ briefing. Behind the stage, the enormous waves were clearly visible. The mayor of Texel, Francine Giskes, welcomed everyone. After that, the Round president, Sidny van Zon, took away everyone's doubts. The 33rd Zwitserleven Round Texel was cancelled. To most sailors, this message was no surprise. We asked some of them for their opinion.

Record challenge
Dercksen/Barney won TNG Round Texel Record Attempt
Even though eleven teams challenged it on Friday, the record that Herbert Dercksen and Mark Bulkeley set last year wasn’t broken. Even Dercksen himself needed more time to Round the island this year. Nevertheless, he and his crew Ed Barney were the fastest team of the day and they won the TNG Round Texel award.
